Look who is sitting up

Reid is making me work for it.  I am just barely getting to the "Yay I'm sitting" post and he is moving on to the "Yay I'm crawling" zone.  He is now up on all fours rocking back and forth. Mike thinks he will be about to take care of this little teaching task while Lucy and I are in Disneyland.  We will see...

Princess Party?

Lucy was invited to party for one of her cute friends here.  She was beyond excited, carrying the invitation around for hours at a time.  But when we explained that she was supposed to were a princess outfit to the party she insisted on being an alligator.  We gently explained that she would not be going as an alligator and tried to coax her into something pink or something with lace and tulle or something ballerina styled, but she would have none of it.  We finally compromised on being a "pirate princess".  Mike and I were laughing hard during the whole process of getting her ready! She is so independent minded.

Lucy's Jokes

After a string of nonsense jokes coming from the backseat the other day, one that actually made sense made stop and evaluate if I had heard correctly.  Sure enough, she told a real joke.  I have no idea where the duck joke originally came from but the bear joke is curtesy of Mike.
And Reid thinks she is pretty funny...

Morning Light

When Reid first came along mornings scared me.  Not knowing at what hour the day would start for blue eyes and myself.  Not knowing how to get two kids ready and out the door by a certain time.  Not knowing if a shower for me would be accomplished to the tune of tears.  But things are starting to shift.  I think the three of us have found a nice rhythm to the days.  I like to keep the mornings slow.  I don't feel the old need to rush out the door and fill our days with busyness.  The mornings now contain the best three year old conversations and the cutest interactions between these two.

3 Years Old

I can't believe she is three.  She is such an amazing girl.  So independent and tender.  And even though she used her precious birthday wish to ask that Reid be less wiggly, he thinks the world of her too.  We spent the day eating sprinkles at home, frozen yogurt with friends, and hanging out at the museum with dad.  We also sat her down to ask her the same questions we did last year (bottom of post).

Sacred Spaces

You can bury me with this rocking chair. I love the giggles that happen on it.  The infant tears.  The cadence of all the books read in it.  The hours spent half sleeping in it with a baby in my arms.  The way Lucy pounces on it the moment I finish nursing.  The cuddles.

Post-Christmas Evaluation

Christmas was lovely.  While it is a challenge to channel a curious and busy girl in a house other than our own, the relationships that are reaffirmed when visiting family are so vital.  Upon arrival home, Lucy has unleashed a thread of energy that we didn't know was possible from an already energetic girl. It has been nonstop movement and talking around here...
