Social Ladybug

Lucy really enjoys being around other people. She even loves to sit and listen to other people converse, although she is partial to witty banter which can be difficult to sustain. Lately she has had a lot of opportunities to enjoy others.
Hanging out with Sam. Crawling and sharing.

Exploring the world with Abra
Charming her ever doting aunt.

Begging baby Jack to join the world of babies.
And best of all, hanging out with her great grandma Prince.

Teacher's Assistant

This year I am teaching one class every morning at the high school. Not only do I love still being a teacher, apparently Lucy also loves her new role as teacher's assistant. She takes it very seriously.
She searches for important documents:
And organizes them:
She corrects papers:
And double checks her work:
She finds key passages for lesson plans:
And does a little reading on her own to stay sharp:

8 month world

Back by popular demand (okay, really because her aunt asked) are two clips of 15 minutes in the life of Lucy.
Take #1: In which Lucy gets stuck in the standing position and doesn't know what to do.
Take #2: In which Lucy scares all viewers by getting to0 close to the stairs and showing off mom's sports bra.

Tone: A writer's attitude toward the subject and audience

Tone in literature isn't always the easiest thing to teach my students. Little did I know I would come home from teaching and have to explain tone to a seven month old.
"Touch the barn. It's on the farm"
Tone: playful, instructional
"Touch the cow. Do it now"
Tone: Scary, threatening
I think she got it!

Love this girl

Lucy has been a little sick and a little grumpy because of it. But, hard as grumpy Lucy can be, I still think this little person is just the best thing that ever happened. Ever. And her hair that stays exactly as it is dried . . .which I still can't figure out how to style. Love that too.
