Lucy Rolls Over

You should be warned, this accelerated version of Lucy's much anticipated roll takes a little over a minute to watch. That said, the actual event took over five minutes, required three aunts, a grandma, and a mom, two cameras, lots of cheering, a full day of teaching complete with modeling, and a cute little one who loves her naked time.

The Traveling Ring

My family has so few things that connect us physically. We have had at least two members of the family living in a different country from the others for the past eleven years. At times we have been spread out over four countries at one time. Phone calls have to be made early in the morning or in the late afternoon to reach a parent. Calendars have to be meticulously coordinated around dates with new boys, travels, BYU classes, a new baby, and a new husband in the family. We can sometimes feel very separate. But for a couple months a year each girl gets to wear a ring that says 'you belong'. It sometimes whispers 'you can do it', although to be truly accurate it is more likely to yell 'just do it already'. It started with Katie, but I borrowed it for a little too long and thought it was mine. Megan had been trying to get it from me when Katie realized she liked it again and wanted to wear it. At this same time, we were all going through scary tasks; we were starting careers, dating, serving missions, etc. So we started passing the ring to the person who needed a little extra boost for the month. And thus, the traveling ring.

Two Months Old

This month Lucy * rolled over * traveled on a plane (four times) * got her fingernails painted * practiced a new "I need adoration" cry * recognized when people were talking to her by smiling back * saw her first snowfall * met her grandpas and great grandma * started hanging out playing on the ground without crying

Lucy's Blessing Day

Lucy was surrounded by overflowing love and adoration on her blessing day. She looked beautiful and, as her mom, I felt so blessed to see her buoyed up, literary and figuratively, by such a wonderful family system.

Saturday Festivities

Living in China and moving to Malaysia, my dad was the last of my family to meet Lucy. He has been sending mass family emails telling everyone to get their fill of Lucy time so that he can have uncontested claim to this little one.
My sisters, although they did indeed get said emails, were not ready to let go of Lucy. When dad finally had to eat something and put Lucy down, Katie and Brittany figured out ways to both hold Lucy at the same time during their precious few minutes.
We took everyone to the opening of the Saturday Market downtown. Lucy basked in the sun and slept the entire time.
