That Hair

Wrestling Lucy's hair has become a full-time job.  Forget a nanny, I want a hair-stylist to join our team.

Junior high will be a long 3 years for me

She darted (and I use that word loosely) from egg to egg only to have another kid get to it before she did. The emptying field started to mirror her basket - empty. I seriously thought I would break apart right there on the neighborhood elementary soccer field. I felt completely untethered to rational feelings watching my girl fall behind. And she really wasn't fazed - she moved on to the Easter Bunny and then to the big slide - but me, I realized am going to be a mess when Lu starts trying harder things and disappointment enters the picture with more frequency. A mess!

Cold and Sunny: Getting Colorado Ready

We LOVE Portland. We got our first jobs here. We met here. We married here. We had our first baby here. We bought our first house here. We have had A LOT of perfect moments here. So when Mike was offered an exciting change with work that would take us to Denver, Colorado, it was not without a lot of heartache that we realized it was the best thing for our little family. We are optimistic about the change but sad to leave. We still have a couple of months to squeeze in visits to all our favorite Portland places, but once the school year is over, we are going to be exploring new territory. (Granted, at 8 months pregnant, probably not a lot of exploring will actually be happening.)

Spring Break

Over spring break Lucy and I went to Utah for Tanner's baby blessing, to Colorado for great-grandpa Curtis's funeral, and back to Oregon to hang out with grandma and grandpa Wecker. Lucy always seems to grow so fast when she is surrounded by extended family who talk to her nonstop and encourage her to try new things; everyone even indulged every single one of her tireless "why" questions.
