Daddy Dates

 Lucy has been earning rocks to put in a jar as she does kind things, and when the jar fills up she gets to go on a special date with mom or dad.  She always picks dad.  And dad has gotten in the habit of dumping rocks in by the handful so that they can go out on a date every day!  At the zoo Lucy rode her first carousel...

These two cute things are not naked because I thought it would make for a themed photo shoot - they are naked because it was two against one this morning and by ten o'clock this was the state we were in... while one nurses one has to go to the potty, while one attempts to get dressed the other starts crying, while one has a runny nose that needs attention the other has a dirty diaper that needs attention... and forget about the one who would like to take a shower and maybe eat some breakfast!  Does this get easier?

2 Weeks Old {as seen through my iPhone}

It is hard to get out the camera and pose photos, making me immensely grateful for my iphone.  I don't want to forget a minute of this time.  It is intense and still at the same time.  Things are really lovely with this little guy, but it is also tough helping Lucy learn composure when frustrated. She is still so young and we are asking her to grow up fast as a big sister.  Some of the lessons she has to learn but how do I allow her still to also simply be two?

On being a younger sibling

As a first born I thought I had it hard, paving all the paths and breaking the parents in, but it turns out that younger siblings might just have it harder.

Lucy Meets Reid

It feels impossible to capture the events of the last week in words.  It has been so much fun meeting Reid and equally exciting watching Lucy become a big sister.  She is kind and patient and really seems to be taking the transition in graceful strides.  Here she meets her little brother for the first time...

Best Laid Plans

Sweet Megan and Tanner came to help with the arrival of the new baby.  She planned to stay ten days and take care of household chores so my mom could focus on doting on the newborn and myself.  She arrived last Thursday and we didn't even consider the possibility that she would leave without seeing the baby.  But alas, leave she did.  And there is still no baby.  Now I'm just hoping that my mom's visit doesn't come to the same fate.

But we had fun while she was here and her presence was invaluable in passing the time and distracting me from counting the overdue days.  And, with her cute get it done attitude, she potty-trained Lucy (with the help of a lot of grandma's m&ms) and let me take it easy by taking care of much of the cleaning and cooking.  Lucy had a great time with both Tanner and Megan and still tries to find Tanner in the morning when she wakes up (he slept in a number of different locations and it was always a surprise where he would be).
