Made for Malaysia

With Thanksgiving approaching, I am looking so forward to all the family we will be able to spend the holiday with. But with that wealth of dear family, we will acutely feel the absence of my dad who will be in Malaysia for the holiday. With that in mind, I tried to capture some key moments of life with Lucy. All the little things he may be missing. So, that said, unless you are in Malysia and haven't seen your granddaughter in far too long, I would recommended jumping to the "Mocking Herself" video (#4) in which Lucy discovers her tongue.

10 months

Our ten month old. She is so curious and energetic. Both tiring and delightful. She is talking all the time and her sentences have the sound structure of adult talk. It is probably the cutest sound in the entire word. I love just listening to her language. Love it. It goes in to the top ten moments of being a mom. As for real words, her biggest hit is saying "hi". She loves to makes kissing noises and has also just started using signs ("more" being to most useful to her at the moment). Watching her explore language has been a fascinating experience for me and really is the marker of her 9th month of life.

Restored

My dad has been asking for pictures of our house and I thought that restoring our internet connection was the missing link but it turns out restored sanity would be even more helpful. Moving is busy and stressful but I think we are finally starting to see the pieces come together. No pictures hang on the walls but I think that has more to do with the mental sanity required to make those kind of decisions than the moving in craziness. Hanging a few pictures on the blog, however, requires far less commitment, so it is there that I will begin. Let me fist say that keeping track of a baby, let alone a camera during the move was stressful enough, so I have no pictures of our busy weekend and no evidence that Mike's parents are the most wonderful people for bringing a U-haul from Utah with some of our stuff being stored there and helping us move. Wonderful I tell you! But here are a few shots from today.
Lucy was pleased I finally let her invite her friend Jack over to see the house.
The kitchen. My mom said she never looks at pictures that don't have people in them. So, mom, Lucy is used as a ploy just to get you to keep reading.
From the kitchen to the family room. I just love Lucy's "this move dulled my senses" face.
From the stair to the living room.
Lucy likes to spy on the neighbors (who just happen to be of the same religion we are) but she isn't very good at ducking when she gets caught staring.
Lucy's room. Nothing fancy yet. Just a fancy baby whose outfit was lovingly picked out by her three year old friend. I say, good tastes girl!

Lucy + Animals = Pure Baby Bliss

I am not a pet person but I have always told Mike that when we had a yard we could talk about getting a dog. I just didn't think the day would come so soon. Now it seems to be two against one, Lucy loves pets even more than her dad.

Okay, in the case that you are not blood related, and couldn't quite get through 2 minutes of Lucy, you must check out video number 2, in which a lion attacks Lucy. We were at the zoo when Lucy and this lounging lioness made eye contact from across the cage and the lion got up, came over to Lucy, and started clawing at the glass. I was a little spooked but Lucy loved it.
