Don't judge our form - we are learning! The pressure is on. My dad is visiting soon and a game of golf is in order. We aren't quite ready to play with the big boys but we are hoping a few months of practice will get us close enough to leave the fancy greens with some dignity.
I found this picture on my camera today. The skies here can seem so oppressive a lot of the time and then all of a sudden they just open up in this amazing way. Mike captured it well.
Our Saturday started very early with plans to help give rides to the youth up to the mountain to play in the snow. Mike bought some donuts in an attempt to be the favorite car, but not enough youth showed up to finish off our purchase. So, what is a guy to do but eat the remainder?
We had to look up who was playing, but what a great excuse for breaking the usual fruit, veggie, and protein routine. Here's to a day with nothing healthy in our diet.
We ate none of these
And in the spirit of healthy competition, Mike took the orange
photo challenge and stepped up with a pyramid creation.
The weather outside is kind of gloomy so we headed for the great indoors today and drug Katie along with us. We worked hard in pilates so we could feel good sitting in a movie for a couple of hours, eating out, and splurging at the bakery. We probably should have spent a few more hours in plank position to justify that much gluttony. I did embrace the new year by trying new foods - muscles at McCormick and Shmicks and tasting the flour wonders at the much raved about but never previously visited, Beaverton Bakery.
With two great families to hang out with in Utah, it was really hard to abandon vacation. We had such a wonderful time with such fantastic people. Being back home is not without its charms, we do have a pretty good life, but we still sigh when we have to make our own breakfast.
I'm pretty sure my sister Megan spent more time dressing up for skiing than she actually spent on the slope. We had such a fun day riding snowmobiles and skiing. I might have set a record for getting stuck on the snowmobile (and running into trees - pictures pending) but I outlasted all the girls on the slopes.
